School Uniform

We have tried to keep the school uniform as simple as possible for the children to manage.  Please help by choosing clothing that your child can manage themselves. Simple fastenings, like velcro, greatly help your child, particularly on PE days.

All the children wear the following as our School Uniform:

Grey trousers, skirt, pinafore or shorts (no leggings)
White polo shirt or shirt
Burgundy school sweatshirt or cardigan
Red and white checked dress in summer
White, grey or burgundy socks or tights
Black, brown or navy shoes
School baseball or safari cap (optional)

No trainers, open-toed sandals or high heeled boots/shoes are permitted. For safety reasons, sunglasses are not permitted to be worn during the school day.

PE Kit

  • Black shorts
  • T-Shirt  in House colour
  • Black plimsoles or trainers
  • Spare socks
  • PE Bag

School sweatshirts, cardigans, P.E. T-shirts and school book bags are available from the School Office. Order forms are available on our website or from the School Office.

All KS1 classes have painting aprons to protect the children’s clothing when doing Art or Technology work.  Children in KS2 are asked to bring in an old shirt which they can use to protect their clothing when participating in art activities.

Spare clothing is kept in school should your child have an accident. We would appreciate it if you could wash and return this as soon as possible after use.

All items of clothing should be fully named. The children are encouraged, by teachers and Parents, to take responsibility for their own belongings in school.

Jewellery

For safety reasons, the children are not permitted to wear any jewellery in school. If your child has pierced ears, earrings must be removed or taped during PE sessions – tape to be provided by Parents.  If you intend to have your child’s ears pierced it is advisable to do so during the summer break so that he / she does not miss their PE sessions.  Only plain gold/silver studs are permitted i.e. no diamond or jewelled styles. Watches are permitted to be worn but must be removed during PE sessions.

The County Solicitor informs Parents that the school or Hampshire Authority cannot be held responsible for any injury caused or exacerbated by the wearing of sleepers or studs in school.

Additionally, no extreme haircuts are permitted e.g. maps of the world, tram lines, excessive use of gel, hair decorations etc. Children whose hair is of shoulder length or longer are required to tie their hair up.

Essential everyday items your child will need in school:

  • Book bag for Reading Book and letters home. Cloakroom space is limited – no large rucksacks.
  • PE Kit
  • A piece of fruit in a box or bag – EYFS and KS1 children are provided with fruit each day in school
  • A transparent bottle containing water. Please note that no other drinks are permitted.

We do not permit toys or other items to be brought to school unless requested as part of a class topic or activity.
