EXTRA CURRICULAR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
If children are to become life-long learners, we believe they need to enjoy and have a love of learning. At Hawley Primary School we offer learning in the classrooms, in the school grounds and within our on-site facilities together with regular day and residential trips and visits. Every day the children have access to up to date technology in our ICT suite and in the classrooms where interactive whiteboards, laptops and I-Pads are available.
A strong emphasis is placed on the Arts and Sports through an extensive range of opportunities. This includes the provision of professional coaches for many different sports and dedicated swimming lessons for all children in Year 4. We have school sports teams for football, netball and cricket who train throughout the year in preparation for interschool matches and competitions.
Peripatetic music tuition is on offer for guitar and keyboard instruments and all the children learn to play the guitar and recorder during their time at Hawley Primary School. We have a school choir, recorder groups, and dance clubs on offer to children as well as linking with other schools when the opportunities arise.
Teaching and Support Staff run a range of after school and lunchtime club activities each week for the children to enjoy. These change each term and the children have the opportunity to choose from the new list of clubs presented. Any adult who organises and runs an extra-curricular activity is DBS checked and covered by appropriate insurance.
Through our Healthy Schools work our children are encouraged to make healthy choices of activities and food. Bikeability training is on offer for all children in Year 5 and children are encouraged to ride bikes to school.
The school is committed to ensuring that all pupils are able to fully participate in the whole range of extra-curricular activities and will make every effort to provide appropriate resources as appropriate to need.
