PE and Sport Premium at Hawley Primary
The PE and sport premium is funding to help our pupils be more healthy and active. We use it to make sustainable improvements to the PE, sport and physical activity we provide. This government funding is provided to all primary schools in England to support the development of high-quality physical education and sport opportunities for children.
The amount of funding we receive is based on the number of pupils we have in years 1 to 6. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil. This means that for our children at Hawley Primary School, we receive a significant investment to enhance our PE and sport provision.
The UK chief medical officer recommends that children should take part in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day. Our PE and sport premium funding helps us work towards this goal by providing the resources, expertise, and opportunities our children need to develop healthy, active lifestyles.
Our Vision
At Hawley Primary School, we are committed to developing healthy, active children who have the skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to lead active lifestyles both now and in the future. Through our PE and sport premium funding, we aim to:
- Provide high-quality PE and sport for at least 2 hours a week
- Offer a wide range of extracurricular sports and competitive opportunities.
- Provide equal access to sport for all pupils
Our Key Priorities
We focus our spending on the Department for Education's five key improvement areas:
- Increasing all staff's confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport
- Increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport
- Raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement
- Offering a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils
- Increasing participation in competitive sport
Our Commitment
All our spending decisions consider how they will benefit future pupils. We focus on upskilling our staff so they feel confident and able to lead high-quality, fun PE lessons.
Reporting and Accountability
We publish a detailed report on our website by 31 July each year, which includes:
- The amount of premium received
- A full breakdown of how it has been spent
