Digital Images in School

At Hawley Primary School, we understand the importance of celebrating our pupils' achievements and sharing the wonderful learning that takes place in our school. However, we also recognise our responsibility to keep children safe when using their images.

Our Approach to Digital Images

We take the safeguarding of our pupils very seriously. Before using any photographs, videos or other digital images of children, we will always seek parental consent. This includes using names, photos, videos or other identifying information about pupils on our school's website, in our school's newsletter, or other promotional material.

How We Keep Your Child Safe

Consent is key: We will only use consent when it's appropriate to do so under UK GDPR regulations, ensuring parents have genuine choice and control over how their child's image is used. The Key Leaders

Clear information: When we ask for your consent, we will be specific about:

  • Where the images will be used (e.g., school website, newsletters, social media)
  • How long we will keep them
  • Who might see them
  • Your right to withdraw consent at any time

Your rights: You can withdraw your consent at any time, and we will make it easy for you to do this.  If you change your mind about images we've already published, please contact the school office and we will remove them as soon as possible.

Safeguarding Considerations

We are committed to creating a safe online environment for all our pupils. We teach children about boundaries, privacy, and their rights over their own bodies and personal information, helping them recognise and report risks and abuse, including online.

Our staff receive regular training on online safety and understand the importance of protecting children's digital identities.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns about how we use digital images of children, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are always happy to discuss our approach and address any worries you may have.
