Governors
Hawley Primary School has a group of Governors, which includes parents, who are legally responsible to ensure the curriculum is taught, policies and schemes of work are in place and oversee the general maintenance and running of the school. The Governors meet twice each term and a report is presented to them by the Headteacher informing them of progress and developments in all aspects of school life. Governors meetings are open and minutes of meetings are available on request from the school office free of charge.
The role of the governing body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:
- Set the aims and objectives for the school
- Set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- Set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
- Monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
- Be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)
