Special Educational Needs
What is SEND?
A child or young person has special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. This means they:
- Have significantly greater difficulty learning than most children of the same age, or
- Have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of facilities generally provided for others of the same age
Some children may need additional support for a short time, while others will need support throughout their education.
Our approach to SEND
At Hawley Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, exciting and challenging learning environment for every child. We recognise that any pupil may have additional needs at some point during their time with us. We provide:
- A differentiated curriculum that meets the needs of all learners
- High-quality teaching adapted to meet individual needs
- Targeted support where needed
- A welcoming environment where every child can thrive
Whether a child has special educational needs, is gifted and talented, or needs temporary support, we ensure all pupils enjoy a broad, balanced education tailored to their individual needs.
